AICHELIN Service manages relocation of heat treatment systems

Successful project coordination for the relocation of two chamber furnace lines

AICHELIN Service has coordinated and implemented the relocation of two AICHELIN chamber furnace lines for its customer Winning BLW GmbH, one of Europe's leading precision forging companies. These were moved from different locations to the new Winning plant in Penzberg/Bavaria. One of the two lines has already been successfully in operation since July 2023, and the second is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2023.

AICHELIN convinces as a service partner

The automotive supplier Winning BLW has been an AICHELIN customer since 2020. As a service competence partner, AICHELIN Service has already provided support for plant maintenance and servicing at the Munich plant. The high level of satisfaction with AICHELIN Service and its proven competence and reliability was the decisive factor in commissioning this relatively complex project.

AICHELIN supports Winning BLW in relocating to new plant

Winning BLW is relocating its entire plant from its current location in Munich to Penzberg in 2023. The relocation will take place within a tight time frame and should be completed by the end of the year. The AICHELIN systems are used to heat treat components for the drivetrain of cars, trucks and agricultural commercial vehicles. Delivery capability is to remain high even during the relocation. The aim of the project with AICHELIN Service was to dismantle an existing chamber furnace line from Munich within a tight time frame, relocate it and then put it back into operation in Penzberg. Prior to this, another new AICHELIN system had to be set up in Penzberg and put into operation for the first time.

Complex project requires coordination of several project partners

As the overall project coordinator, AICHELIN Service coordinates the dismantling, relocation, reconstruction and commissioning of the systems. The complexity of this project is significantly higher than comparable projects:

From Munich to Penzberg: Smooth relocation of two facilities

  • One of the two chamber furnace lines is a new system that was not previously in operation and was installed at the new site as part of the plant relocation. This system had been stored in parts and in several locations in the meantime. The system was relocated to Penzberg in the first quarter of 2023. The installation was carried out by AICHELIN and the system was successfully put into operation in July.

  • The second heat treatment plant has also already been relocated to Penzberg. Dismantling at the Winning BLW plant in Munich was carried out by specialists from AICHELIN Service and personnel provided by the customer. Thanks to a successful team effort, the dismantling was completed ahead of schedule. As fewer resources were required than originally calculated, Winning BLW benefited from time and cost savings in the five-digit euro range. The plant is scheduled to be recommissioned by the beginning of November 2023.

  • At the new plant in Penzberg, Winning BLW now has these two systems operated by the Hanomag Lohnhärterei Group. The company is one of Europe's leading hardening shops and has a presence at several locations in Germany, Poland and Austria. Around 13 employees have been working at Hanomag's new site in Penzberg since May 1, 2023.

AICHELIN Service once again proves itself as a general contractor

AICHELIN Service is the central point of contact for all project partners throughout the entire duration of the project and is responsible for the entire planning, coordination and monitoring as the communication interface. This also included drawing up the technical plans for the dismantling and reconstruction of the systems. AICHELIN Service also coordinated all the project partners involved and the people from various companies who were involved in order to optimally coordinate the timing of the individual trades and carry out the plant relocation efficiently.

Central project coordination is essential for relocating heat treatment plants of this size and complexity. This enables us to offer our customers real added value. With this project, we are once again demonstrating our expertise as a reliable and experienced general contractor.
