Initial situation: Invisible risks in the conveyor process
For BRUGOLA, a renowned Italian manufacturer of fasteners for the automotive industry, absolute process reliability is essential. In the AICHELIN cast link belt furnaces used on site, a conveyor system continuously transports large volumes of components through the heat treatment process.
However, a critical question arose in daily operations:
What happens if individual parts remain in the conveyor channel unnoticed – and are unintentionally mixed with the next batch?This risk jeopardizes not only product quality, but also traceability and overall process efficiency.
The solution: Transparency through smart camera technology
Together with AICHELIN, BRUGOLA implemented a forward-looking solution:
CODIAC – Conveyor Diagnostic Camera System.
Installed directly at the conveyor channel, CODIAC captures an image of the ongoing transport process every 30 seconds and transmits it in real time to the FOCOS 4.0 process control system.
Thanks to the integrated Time Travel function, the entire part flow can be reviewed retroactively – with full visual documentation for complete traceability and analysis.
The result: 100% visibility, 0% batch mix-ups
